Strathaven and its surrounding villages form Avondale; a scenic area with many attractions. It is located on the A71 between Edinburgh and Kilmarnock and is famed for the many and varied activities that take place. Avondale includes Glassford, Chapelton, Sandford, Drumclog and Gilmourton. There are also strong links to Stonehouse along the A71. There are speciality shops, excellent cafes and bars, and lots of leisure activities.
The town has a historic connection with the Covenanters, has a castle and for many years was home to Harry Lauder.

There is an annual Balloon Festival, Galaday, Reindeer Day, Raft Race, Festival of Sport, Strathaven Agricultural Show, Strathaven Folk Festival, Hangarfest, Strathaven Beer Festival, Bonfire Night in the Park and many other unique events.

Nearby we have many fantastic walks as well as waterfalls, hills, rivers, fishing and other enjoyable activities. We even have our own airfield for microlights and small planes.  It is a fantastic base for visiting Lanarkshire and beyond.
