Climate Action Strathaven is excited to confirm that the new EXPRESS bus service connecting Glasgow and Strathaven/Stonehouse, launched on Monday 10th October 2022. The bus service number will be 3C. It can bring you from North Hanover Street all the way out to the many attractions Strathaven has to offer in around 35 minutes. You’ll be able to visit Strathaven’s award winning park, its wide selection of wonderful cafes and restaurants, shops and businesses.
We appreciate the support and feedback received from Strathaven, Stonehouse and surrounding communities.
Our research has told us that there is demand for this service, and we have planned it accordingly. However, please bear with us as we continue to fine tune it and make adjustments to help ensure it best serves the needs of the community.
Below is a short video (produced by Michelle Paterson of Say it Gifts) showing the welcome you will receive and what you can do when you come out to Strathaven.

Pick-up points in Stonehouse: –
Due to the current road closure in the centre of Stonehouse, the pick-up stops for now will only be between the Lifestyles Centre and Stonehouse Hospital. Once the road re-opens the bus will go through the centre of Stonehouse, via The Cross, picking up at any of the stops to Lockhart Street.
Connections from surrounding villages:
We aim to tie in departure times with connections from surrounding villages, and we will work with local bus operators to do this where possible. We would also like to encourage cycling to the bus stops – though we recognise that this isn’t always currently possible or desirable for everyone, for a variety of reasons.
Travel time:
The journey time of 35 minutes is possible – this was what we achieved in the Glasgow/Strathaven bus trials in December 2021. The Scottish Government has committed £500m to improving bus infrastructure, including motorway bus lanes in and around Glasgow (September 2019). Once the motorway bus lanes are in place – a journey time of 35 minutes will be possible even in rush hour.
